4th of July : Independence Day festivities planned in region

Firecracker 5K: 8 a.m. to noon, City Park. Information: FortCollins RunningClub.org. Start off your Fourth of July with this annual Fourth of July 5K run/walk beginning at Mulberry Street and Sheldon Drive at City Park.

Downtown Fort Collins Fourth of July Celebration: 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Old Town Square. Free. Information: www. DowntownFortCollins.com.Celebrate the Fourth with live music from Soul Proprietor, The Informants and 3 Twins, as well as a beer garden and a pie eating contest (3:30 p.m.). Free shuttles will begin at 6 p.m. at the Downtown Transit Center to take people to City Park Lake for the fireworks (9:35 p.m.); shuttles will run until 10:30 p.m.
