Apple set to take preorders for Wi-Fi iPads

Apple promised a late March launch of the iPad and, despite rumors of a possible delay, it looks as if Apple broke its promise by only a few days.
The iPad Wi-Fi-only model is set to go on sale April 3 with a 3G/Wi-Fi version available in late April. Preorders for both models begin Friday at www.apple.com.
The iPad goes on sale starting at $499 and reaches up to $829 for the most expensive model. The device will sport a 9.7-inch screen, will be half an inch thick and will weigh about 1 1/2 pounds.
