Billie Holiday on Sunday, 18 July

Donald Hyman, a soul singer and re-enactor of African-American history, has written a play about the jazz legend Billie Holiday and he’s staging a free performance featuring an amateur cast of 35 local people.

“Blessed Blues” is part documentary, part musical and a distillation of Hyman’s years of research into the life of his musical idol.
