BMW’s electric city car : lithium-ion battery car

New environmental sub-brand will appear in 2013 with the promise of improved range from its batteries.
BMW has unveiled plans for an environmental sub-brand, which will be launched in 2013 on the front of a brand-new two-plus-two-seat, lithium-ion battery car.

The new Megacity Vehicle will have a 134bhp, all-electric driveline with a single-speed electric motor revving up to 12,000rpm. It will also feature an aluminium chassis containing the wheels, suspension, battery and electric motor, and a separately-formed carbon-fibre-reinforced plastic passenger cell.
