Cisco’s big announcement in A new router

Cisco Systems, which is often referred to as the plumber of the Internet, announced Tuesday a next-generation Internet router for the world’s largest Internet service providers, the CRS-3.
Cisco may have overhyped the announcement just a tad. After weeks of hype about a major announcement that would change the Internet forever, it turns out the new product is an upgrade to an existing core Internet router. The new router, which is sold to major Internet service providers, offers 12 times the traffic capacity than its older-generation routers offer. And it is much faster and can handle much more traffic than any of its competitors.
