There are few things more evocative than a picture that you’ve taken yourself, properly framed, hung on a wall at home – and it’s the new generation of digital technologies that make taking that picture easy. Cameras that can capture brilliant images are increasingly affordable, and the price of memory cards has plummeted to such a low level you can snap happily away for hours. Then when you download images to a computer or share them online, one of the thousands is bound to be worth keeping, especially if you employ the magic of Photoshop.
