Hans Christian Andersen, in Denmark he is referred to using the initials: Hans Christian Andersen) (April 2, 1805 – August 4, 1875) was a Danish author and noted poet and was best known for his children’s stories which included ‘The Steadfast Tin Soldier’, ‘The Snow Queen’, ‘The Little Mermaid’, ‘Thumbelina’, ‘The Little Match Girl’, and the ‘The Ugly Duckling’.
