Hyponatremia is a condition in which you have abnormally low levels of sodium in your blood, according to the Mayo Clinic. This is the condition that Bret Michaels has developed, according to TMZ.

Sodium is an electrolyte which regulates fluid water levels in and around your cells. Hyponatremia can occur for many reasons, a few of the more common conditions include, from an underlying medical condition to the athlete who has taken in an excessive amount of water during endurance sports.
