“Elementary” was not the word that immediately sprang to mind as I descended an icy couloir above Davos in the tracks of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. There are occasional moments in life when you wish you were somewhere – anywhere – but where you are. This was one. Even if the Hound of the Baskervilles had been hot on my heels, I could not have inched my way down any faster.
