Life Insurance : AIA Sales In Singapore, Thailand Jumped More Than 40%-Prudential

NEW YORK (Dow Jones)–Sales at the international life insurance unit that American International Group Inc. (AIG) is selling to Prudential Group Plc (PRU.LN, PUK) jumped more than 40% in Singapore and Thailand in the first quarter.
The unit, AIA Group Ltd., had an overall increase in sales of 16% in the three months ended Feb. 28, according to data compiled by Prudential for potential new investors Monday. AIG’s own calculations showed that pretax profit at AIA, its largest international life insurer, rose 69% to $658 million in the period.
