Lion Attacks Trainer At MGM Las Vegas

The camera is focused on the other side of the enclosure and does not capture the moment when the man was attacked. But reports say the trainer may have stepped too close to the lion.

“If the cat was serious, the damage to the animal care gentleman would be a lot more,” Las Vegas Zoo Director Pat Dingle told local TV station KVVU-TV.

“The cat had no intentions of doing permanent damage. It wasn’t hungry. It wasn’t anything like that. It was just a quick signal.”

The trainer, whose identity was not immediately released, was transported to an area hospital and received stitches on his left leg. He is in good condition and plans on returning to work at the casino upon recovery.

The trainer is not an MGM employee, according to MGM Resorts International spokesperson Yvette Monet on Tuesday.
