British supermodel Naomi Campbell, 39, has made an appearance on the catwalk at London Fashion Week 2010, modelling some revealing outfits at the Issa show.
The London-born model, who is a close friend of Sarah Brown, the Prime Minister’s wife, wore a number of designs including a flowing black and white dress and a summer party frock with a matching hat and bikini.

It was her second appearance for the Issa label, designed by Daniella Helayel who has dressed Madonna and Scarlett Johansson. Campbell modelled at the same show last year, which was attended by Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie. The Issa Spring/Summer 2010 show was held at Somerset House and is part of the 25th anniversary of London Fashion Week.

Helayel said: “Naomi is the pure hurricane, she’s the best walker on the catwalk, she’s the sunshine after the storm.

“Every time she walks the audience screams and claps! I am very pleased she wanted to wear three outfits as she only wears what she likes. She is the top model in swim wear and looks better than any 21 year old I know.”

Issa designs are described as “practical, fluid and chic”. Asked who her ideal customer is, Helayel said: “The Queen of England. She is not just a style icon, but an icon in every sense of the word.”

Earlier this year Campbell accused the advertising industry of using the recession as an excuse to drop black models.

“This year, we have gone back all the way that we had advanced,” she said. “I don’t see any black woman, or of any other race, in big advertising campaigns.”

She referred to the publication last year of a special edition of Italian Vogue dedicated to non-white models, adding: “That made some noise, but, unfortunately, we are the same as before. People, in the panic of the recession, don’t dare to put a girl of colour in their campaign, full stop. Nor of any other race. It’s a shame. It’s very sad.”

In 2008 Campbell was ordered to carry out 200 hours’ community work for kicking and spitting at police officers at Heathrow Airport in a row over her missing bags during chaos in the early days of the airport’s Terminal 5.
