Milwaukee Flooding : Flooding Shuts Down Milwaukee Airport
Category World | Friday, July 23rd, 2010Due to severe thunderstorms in southern Wisconsin, Milwaukee-General Mitchell International airport was closed last night around 9:30 P.M.
Officials determined conditions were too dangerous for the airport to remain open. Heavy rain accompanied the storms flooding tarmacs and surrounding roads. The area saw up to seven-and-a-half inches of rain in just two hours, and the National Weather Service received reports of tornadoes, at which point all air traffic controllers were evacuated from their towers. Not exactly the ideal variables for a safe takeoff.
