ALBANY, N.Y. — Senior Jared DeMichiel made a career-high 39 saves as Rochester Institute upset Denver 2-1 in the first round of the NCAA tournament on Friday. Denver started the season No. 1 in the U.S. College Hockey Online poll and was the tournaments’s No. 2 overall seed.
“Our guys were able to battle,” said Rochester coach Wayne Wilson, whose team is in its fifth season as a Division I program. “And (DeMichiel) played tremendous.”
