New York Yankees Baseball
Category Sports | Thursday, July 8th, 2010The unraveling began innocently enough Wednesday night, as a run-scoring bloop single fell in front of right fielder Ryan Sweeney in the fourth inning.
From there, the wheels came off completely for A’s left-hander Gio Gonzalez as the New York Yankees finished a three-game sweep with a 6-2 victory before 31,518 fans at the Coliseum.
Gonzalez allowed five runs in the fourth, all scoring with two out, before finally retiring the side. It was a rare meltdown for a pitcher who has made strides this season in containing such dangerous spots.
