Pepco Power Outage in Washington region
Category Sci/Tech | Monday, July 26th, 2010In Washington and neighboring Montgomery and Prince George’s counties in Maryland heavy storms rolled through the region, downing power lines, trees, and tragically killing 2 people. Authorities say there are vast amounts of damage in the area and work is being carried out today to try to restore power.
Pepco, regional utility, reported over 240,000 customers without power and because the damage and power outages are so widespread, there is not yet a timetable in place for when power will be restored, according to Pepco spokesman, Clay Anderson. The damage is not merely confined to downed power lines but also many transformers were damaged and electric poles actually broken.
