Today, in the shadow of the Statue of Liberty, fifteen pilots will be flying lightweight, 1200-pound planes up to 230 miles per hour through inflatable, 65-foot-tall floating pylons on a 3 mile track on the Hudson River between New York and New Jersey. The event is part of the 2010 Red Bull Air Race World Championship, which attracts millions of spectators worldwide, and is expected to bring in thousands of people this weekend.
