Ricky Hatton is contemplating a comeback fight, expected to either be held in Manchester or Cardiff, sources close to the fighter confirmed on Monday.
It is almost two months to the day since Hatton lost for the first time at light-welterweight, outmuscled and out-punched at 140lbs for the first time in his career by the Filipino phenomenon Manny Pacquiao at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
It is believed that if Amir Khan defeats Andreas Kotelnik in Manchester to win the World Boxing Association 140lb title, the two Lancastrians could meet in the ring.
British heavyweight sensation Tyson Fury is pursuing a title fight with English Champion John McDermott, with the British Boxing Board of Control having ordered that the bout must take place before the end of November.
Purse bids for the contest have been ordered for July 8.
Fury, 6ft 9in, son of former heavyweight John Fury, has won all six of his fights by knockout since joining the professional ranks last December.
Fury fights next at the York Hall, Bethnal Green on July 18 on the undercard of the British light-heavyweight title fight between Danny McIntosh and Nathan Cleverly.
Fury hopes a win at the York Hall will secure a shot at McDermott’s English title. He said: “I’ve been looking for John McDermott for a while now. He’s been offered the fight before but turned it down, but now that the fight has been ordered by the Board he surely can’t back out again.”
