Subaru Forester Recall
Drivers of 2009-2012 Subaru Foresters with children may want to get their cars checked out — Subaru is recalling 275,000 Foresters due to rear center seatbelts that may not latch.
The US NHTSA announced the recall of around 275,000 Subaru Forester vehicles between the model years of 2009 through 2012 because of a problem with the rear center safety belt’s automatic locking retractors.
The seat belts do not meet the government’s safety standard number 208 for locking capability. The seat belts locking capability is important for preventing injury during a crash. The child restraint not being properly secured could increase the risk for injury in an accident.
Subaru will notify vehicle owners on or before April 13 with instructions on how to get a free replacement of the rear center seat belt assembly. Owners of the vehicle can contact Subaru toll free at 1-800-782-2783.
