Melissa Healy, the Los Angeles Times reporter, has written a neat story on how food portions have increased in paintings of the Last Supper over the ages. Two scholars examined 52 paintings (that’s DaVinci’s famed rendering at right) in an attempt to figure out the source of the American hunger for super-sized portions. Their finding, published online in the International Journal of Obesity: Serving sizes have gotten progressively bigger for the last 1,000 years
