Target Corp. said Thursday that starting this fall, it will give a 5 percent discount on everything shoppers buy at Target if they pay with a Target credit or debit card.
The Minneapolis-based retailer decided to launch the discount nationwide, after a hugely successful test in the Kansas City area, which drew so many extra shoppers to Target that it more than offset the costs. By next year, the company predicts the program alone will raise same-store sales between 1 percent and 2 percent.
