Andy Murray won his sixth title of the year and the 14th of his career with a comprehensive victory over Mikhail Youzhny at the inaugural Valencia Open on Sunday afternoon.
Andy Murray may not have won any of the grand slams this season, but on Sunday he held up a white ceramic pot in Valencia, to add to the golden eagle trophy he received in Doha, the silver plate in Rotterdam, the glass prize in Miami, the giant silver cup at Queen’s Club, and the glassware from his tournament victory in Montreal.
Murray, playing in his first ranking event since the US Open two months ago, overwhelmed Russia’s Mikhail Youzhny 6-3, 6-2 in the Valencia final to win his sixth title of the year, which is more than Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal or anyone else.
