Andy Murray progressed to the semi-finals of the inaugural Valencia Open with a comfortable 6-4 6-2 victory over Albert Montanes.
Given that there are twelve Spaniards in the world’s top 100, and he is playing a tournament in Valencia, it is hardly that surprising that Andy Murray keeps bumping in to Spanish opponents at his first ranking competition since the US Open a couple of months ago.

Murray, who skipped tournaments in Asia to rest an injury to his left wrist, defeated Spain’s Albert Montanes on Friday to reach the semi-finals, where he will play Fernando Verdasco after he beat Tommy Robredo 6-3 6-2.
