UK GDP 2Q expands 1.1%

British gross domestic product grew by a much stronger-than-expected 1.1% in the second quarter, government data showed Friday. Economists had forecast a quarterly rise of 0.6%. Compared to the second quarter of 2009, GDP grew by 1.6%. Economists had forecast a 1.1% rise.
