Unemployment Extension June 23 2010 – Jim McDermott Democrat Washington, called on President Barack Obama to sign an executive order to extend unemployment benefits for those who have reached their eligibility limit.There may be a different route to passing the 2010 Unemployment Extension Bill
(official name: American Jobs and Closing Tax Loopholes Act of 2010) without having to go through what looks like a stalemated Congress.
The 99ers — those self-proclaimed unemployed who have exhausted their 99 weeks of unemployment — have made a bold move and petitioned President Barack Obama to sign an executive order to extend unemployment benefits for those who have reached their eligibility limit. The call for the executive order was directed to Congressman Jim McDermott (D-WA) to be hand delivered to President Obama and Senior Political Advisor David Axelrod in the hope that Congress could be circumvented and the unemployed could get their benefits, which many so desperately need.

Every article I read on this matter always speak of the ’99ers’ but what about those of us who were only able to draw 26 weeks?!? People off for that long haven’t found a job, what are the odds that those unemployed for less would? We need this extension and we need it now.
OK, here is the scoop. You just filed for unemployment benefits at the wrong time. So sorry for you, it is so not fair! What the Government has done here, is it is going back to how it used to be. Before the recession, when you filed for unemployment benefits, you could only be on for 6 months (26 weeks). But because of the recession, they started the unemployment extension tiers (I, II, III, and IV). However, now because Obama says that the economy is “Getting Better By The Day” Congress has decided to do away with the “Extensions Program” and go back to the way it was. And you are getting screwed because of false information about how the economy is doing! The Jobs Market is still in the crapper, but we are being cut off from more extensions anyway. No matter HOW LONG you’ve been on unemployment! They are discontinuing the program before doing their job of “Creating Jobs” for those of us who lost our jobs due to no fault of our own. We are paying. And Congress is turning their backs on the tax-payers who are suffering the most. Now don’t get me wrong. Obama wants the extensions to continue, he just can’t do anything about it. Which is why I wonder why we have a Democratic President when he is still RUN BY THE GOP!!!!!! And the GOP cares for nothing about th tax-payers in this country. We have to help those (and there are Democratic seats that opposed us to) who voted against the extensions we need to survive to lose their seats come election day. If anything else, it will be our revenge for our lives stolen! Hope this explains why some got 99 weeks and some only got 26 weeks.
Oh yes, I forgot. Some states get less tiers because their supposedly unemployment rate is lower than others. Please know that these unemployment rates are also based on false facts. The numbers are all fudged! (Some people lose their businesses and jobs that don’t allow people to file for unemployment-doesn’t mean that they have jobs!) Also, the people that fall off the unemployment list because their benefits have expired are also not figured into that unemployment rate! I’ve been educated about this system while I had to depend on it for 2 years. I like EVERYBODY ELSE would much rather have a job than have to rely on my Government payments to survive! But being 58 when I lost my job of 18 years pretty much kicked me out of ANY HOPE OF EVER RECOUPING what I used to have! What was stolen from me! By the decisions of the FAT CATS on the Hill! They’re still sitting pretty though, aren’t they! They have to know how many of us are THIS ANGRY! They will find out in November. They have hurt the tax-payers, the Middle-Class, Main Street! And they will pay!
My benefits have been frozen, everyday I check to see if the bill was passed so I can pay my rent. And when it hasn’t it brings me to tears. I still can’t believe that the rich is still controlling the poor. I wonder if this bill never passes as 70% of America become homeless because we were unable to pay our bills, then what. What happens when we become forgotten? We desperatly need these benefits to be able to get our bills paid, congress needs to stop making excuses why they won’t pass on it, I keep hearing they say they don’t want to make the national debt bigger, what would that matter if were all to distitute to pay it back. Obama please help out congress, clearly the don’t care.

I was living the american dream……now living a nightmare. I have 2 degrees and can not even get a job cleaning floors. Interviewers make me drive to the interview then tell me I am over qualified.
I am losing everything. My savings are gone, I am eating sub-par food and thinking of living the country.
I loved my life but that is gone now. Thank God I do not have children……they would not understand why we could not eat.
Senators…..I want to work…I have tons of background and 2 degrees but if I do not find something soon, I will be on an airvent.
