Venture vet acquires Red Sox stake from New York Times
Category Business, Sports | Thursday, April 1st, 2010Venture capital veteran Henry McCance has acquired a 1.4 percent stake in New England Sports Ventures, the local holding company that includes the Boston Red Sox and a majority position in New England Sports Network among its primary assets.
McCance, chairman emeritus at Waltham, Mass.-based Greylock Partners, bought his share of the company from The New York Times Co., which has actively shopped its holdings in NESV over the past year. The Times (NYSE: NYT) said it will continues to seek a buyer for its remaining 16.6 percent share of the local sports holding company.
