Burger King
This is what’s in the news for Wednesday, September 1st. the Wall Street Journal reports that Burger King (BKC) is in talks with private-equity firms over a possible sale. The status of the talks is unclear but British private equity firm 3i Group PLC is said to be an interested party…the New York Post reports that Dell (DELL) “isn’t quite ready” to drop out of the 3Par (PAR) bidding war. Even as the acquisition price moves out of range, Dell has until the end of today to match Hewlett-Packard’s (HPQ) $30 per share offer and sources say it is likely to make a new bid by the deadline…And finally, Reuters reports that Hitachi (HIT) is planning an IPO of its hard-drive unit in the U.S., possibly by year’s end, sources familiar with the situation said.
