Around 1997, Wrentham Outlets started out as a 33-store location, but as the years went along, especially 2005, it took off, expanded into over 200 premium outlet stores, it took a toll on both the Worcester (Fashion) Common Outlets, and the Cape Cod Outlets. Ultimately, with the boom in popularity in 2006, the Worcester outlet mall officially closed, and leaves the Cape Cod Outlets clinging for life.

This outlet mall is more than twice the size of the Worcester mall, and dominates the Cape Cod mall.
